Hello my sweet friend. My fellow traveler, my beloved family member. My new friend. We are all fellow travelers, aren’t we? And I send this out… to you, today, for you know, if you’ve been listening for a while, that these pauses are sent out individually to now over 160 people. And every time… I push… send on a text that I send to you, I think of you. What an honor I have to tell you. I feel so close to all of you.
So take a deep breath. You know the routine. This is a rendezvous, my friends.
Get yourself cozy, cozy, adjust your bodies. And you know how important that deep breath is.
I’ve been studying the neurophysiology of what that breath does, and it is… so vitally… life giving, energy.
So no matter what you do, whether you listen to this whole thing, or read the text, or are sitting at a stoplight; that one big breath, leads to another, and leads to a sense of great, deep peace, amidst the events, people, and circumstances in our lives.
And so that brings me to the hand.
The hand that is always there. Ready; ready for us to grab a hold of. Or… who grabs ahold of us?
The psalmist knew that hand, and I’ll get there in a minute, but you know who else knows that hand?
My little 18 month old Dax William.
The ninth grandchild that we have.
I took him to one of our local malls yesterday, and he was toddling around, and… always my hand was ready to reach out, guide, direct, grab him so he doesn’t fall.
So now, listen to the Psalmist as he talks about this Hand, Psalm 37.
Take a deep breath. Listen, deeply. You’re having a rendezvous with your God, by the way.
And maybe even with David, the psalmist. You see, he wrote these words, still applicable today, years and years ago,
“Our steps are made firm by the Lord. He delights in our way. Though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong. For the Lord holds us by His hand.”
And so I’m going to bid you good day. Prayerfully, you’ll have some time after I say goodbye to sit and ponder
The loving hand.
That will not let us fall headlong.
For he delights in our way, and our steps are firm, made firm.
Made firm, my friend.
I just recognized that. Our steps are made firm. Sometimes, my steps do get wobbly. I can tell you that.
But I know the hand that helps make my steps firm.
Have a blessed day, my friend. My fellow traveler. You see, I need you… for when I realize anew how many travelers I fellow with,
Somehow, I see a bigger God.
Again, from this purple chair to yours, I send this off with great love and joy and hope. And knowing that we are making a difference in our worlds.
Love to you, fellow traveler, much love.
