Hi my fellow traveler!
This week we’re going to be looking at the mid afternoon pause time. This is one of the sacred seven pauses. Historically these seven sacred pauses are when folks honored the Wisdom of The Pause; they and now we, stop for a moment to pause and ponder and pray and proceed.
Let me tell you about this lovely mid-afternoon time of wisdom and wonder:
The mid afternoon pause is not asking:
“How much more can I get done?”
It is asking:
“Can I pause long enough to notice what life is teaching me right now?”
It’s a mid-afternoon invitation into the Purple Chair.
Take a breath.
Settle in.
Take a pause.
Here’s a gentle wisdom question for this pause:
What can I lovingly release, and what is mine to faithfully tend before this day ends?
Or perhaps even more simply:
What is becoming possible if I stop striving for a moment and simply notice?
And then wonder naturally arises and lovingly asks us:
What am I not seeing?
What is emerging here?
What might life be teaching me right now?
What if there is more going on than I realize?
Those aren’t questions of striving.
They’re questions of aliveness; Wisdom and wonder.
And this God given aliveness has a way of carrying us into the rest of the day. Watch for the Wisdom. Watch for the wonder. Embrace curiosity rather than certainty.
The Mid-Afternoon Pause is a pause of wonder. As the day begins to lean toward evening, become curious again. Wonder about what is unfolding within you, around you, and before you. Wisdom often arrives disguised as a question. 🪑💜🪑
That feels very much like a “This Purple Chair Pause” space.
I bid you Adieu, for right now.
May you be stirred to Pause. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
As always, with much love, peace, and hope From This Purple Chair To Yours…
